Price Point Methodology
Spate analyzes pricing to help contextualize brands within their competitive landscape.
How Price Points Are Calculated
- Spate collects pricing data from 600,000+ products across retailer and DTC websites
- Prices are grouped by category (e.g., skincare, makeup, fragrance)
- Each brand is benchmarked against its peer set within that category
- Price tiers are assigned dynamically based on relative positioning
Price Tier Guidelines (Approximate)
Because pricing is dynamic, thresholds may shift over time.
Low/Mass Price Tier
- Fragrance: < $30
- Makeup: < $30
- Skincare: < $30
High/Prestige Price Tier
- Fragrance: > $66
- Makeup: > $66
- Skincare: > $66
Medium Price Tier
